In mid-March 2022, my beloved motorcycle, a 2004 Harley-Davidson® Ultra Classic, started making odd noises while riding through town. A visit to the local dealership revealed that something “grenaded” in the engine. This gem of wisdom cost me an hour of labor (the minimum), so I brought her home.
I have decided to rebuild the engine in this motorcycle. I am confident that with the right tools and technical information, this is possible. Whether it will be cost-effective has yet to be determined. The plan is to research thoroughly, acquire tools and parts strategically, and weigh options rationally to get this engine running again.
This blog will be my attempt to share the journey with anyone who cares to join me. I plan to document each stage in words and pictures. I also plan to list resources (e.g., tools, manuals, websites, etc.) as I go. Since I’m not sure exactly what is wrong, we’ll take the work up to each new discovery (“Oh, that’s broken.”), and work through the research, parts, tools, and required skills to move forward. Setting up this domain and website is one of the first steps.
Welcome!
